Crosstown - performed by Brooklyn Rider, Live at Joe's Pub
19 May 2009
"Crosstown" is a composition by Ljova (a.k.a. Lev Zhurbin), which was greatly inspired by the collaboration of the singer Rokia Traore and the Kronos Quartet. It originally appeared in an all-viola version on Ljova's debut album, Vjola: World on Four Strings (Kapustnik Records). Here is the premiere of the arrangement for the group Brooklyn Rider - featuring: Johnny Gandelsman and Colin Jacobsen, violins; Nicholas Cords, viola; Eric Jacobsen, cello; Jeffrey Beecher, bass; and Mark Suter on percussion. Live from Joe's Pub, at the Public Theater in New York, January 2008.
